ForteBank has launched digital tenge operations in its internet banking platform for businesses. ForteBusiness users can now open an account, view balances and statements, convert digital tenge, and make VAT payments. The full range of digital tenge services and operations remains available at the Bank’s branches.
For VAT payments, ForteBusiness supports payment of electronic invoices (ESF) and payments under e-Contracts in digital tenge. This is particularly relevant for participants in the “Digital VAT” pilot project of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan: subject to the project’s terms, companies can receive VAT refunds on an accelerated basis – within up to 15 business days.
In addition, the service is designed for participants in public procurement settled in digital tenge, recipients of targeted funding, and companies receiving concessional loans and subsidies under government programs.
“The digital tenge opens up new opportunities for businesses by making settlements more transparent and simplifying the management of targeted funding. We are pleased that clients no longer need to visit a branch for core operations: in ForteBusiness, working with the digital tenge closely mirrors the way they manage their current accounts. Our goal is to keep developing the service so that working with the digital tenge becomes even more convenient for businesses,” said Alma Abilzhanova, Member of the Board – Managing Director of ForteBank.
“We are gradually expanding the use of the digital tenge in corporate financial operations. Businesses can already use it for settlements related to public procurement, targeted funding and certain VAT transactions. At the same time, it is important to us that companies can access the digital tenge through familiar banking services. Connecting ForteBusiness to the digital tenge platform is another step in this direction. The National Payment Corporation of the NBK will continue to develop the platform and, together with banks, expand its use for businesses,” said Tatyana Popova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan, the operator of the digital tenge platform.
As an active participant in the National Bank of Kazakhstan’s digital tenge pilot project, ForteBank continues to explore and implement new use cases for digital currency in its banking services. One promising area is cross-border settlements using central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). Going forward, this will enable Kazakhstani companies to settle with foreign partners faster and with fewer intermediaries.
Participation in such initiatives enables ForteBank to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s modern digital financial infrastructure and to support the adoption of innovative payment technologies.
